Keri Stephanoff scored 16 points and Jessica Torrecillas added 13 points and 10 rebounds but couldn't prevent the Fresno Pacific women's basketball team from losing 74-64 to Cal State Maritime at the Holy Names Tip-Off Tournament in Oakland.

Fresno Pacific (0-2 overall) trailed by 15 points at halftime after shooting 30.4% in the first half.

Lauren Westbrook scored 27 points for Cal State Maritime.

Porterville's men's team lost its opener, falling to state third-ranked Mt. San Jacinto 85-79 at the City College of San Francisco Tip Off Tourney. Details were not available. Fresno City, the state's No. 1 team in the preseason poll, was to face Siskiyous in the tournament's late game.
